Chainsaw Team Services

Chainsaw Team Services are provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief trained/certified volunteers and include cutting and clearing of storm-damaged trees, movement of cuttings to the side of accessible roadways for debris pickup, and other post-storm/disaster cleanup/recovery requiring the use of chainsaws/pole-saws.

Cleanup & Recovery Team Services

Cleanup & Recovery Team Services are provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief trained/certified volunteers and include tarping of storm-damaged structures to temporarily prevent further damage by wind and rain, assistance with removal of storm/water-damaged household belongings from homes and property, removal of storm/water-damaged walls, flooring and other infrastructure from homes and property followed by treatment with mold-killing/preventing approved chemicals, and other general post-storm/disaster cleanup/recovery assistance.

Disaster Recovery Coordination

As lead agency for Volunteer and Donations Management (as written in the State's Emergency Operations Plan) and State Voluntary Agency Liaison (VAL) to faith-based and voluntary agencies, the Governor's Office of Volunteer Services coordinates volunteer response and recovery efforts for survivors by leading in the management of spontaneous unaffiliated volunteers and large unsolicited donations, coordinating the role of voluntary organizations active in disaster (VOAD), helping local communities mobilize resources and develop long term recovery committees, and assisting communities to efficiently and effectively recover from disasters.

Expanded Disaster Relief Services

All Disaster Relief Services provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief (includes Madison Baptist Association Disaster Relief) are provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief trained/certified volunteers. In the event of a disaster in Huntsville and/or surrounding Madison County that exceeds the response capabilities of Madison Baptist Association Disaster Relief in its local response role, the Madison Baptist Association Disaster Relief Coordinator can be additionally supported in every Services category by volunteers from local Alabama Disaster Relief District #1, any of the other 11 Alabama Disaster Relief Districts, Disaster Relief Teams from other Southern Baptist Disaster Relief States/Regions, and Alabama State Disaster Relief capabilities basing out of the Alabama Disaster Relief Center in Prattville, AL. In the case of need for Expanded Services in post-disaster response, Alabama Disaster Relief would establish and man a local Incident Management Center to coordinate requests for community support and a coordinated response from a myriad of Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Teams and assets (could include mass feeding kitchen, additional heavy equipment assets, and other).

In support of post-disaster operations, Madison Baptist Association Disaster Relief has the capability to form feeding teams to prepare and distribute meals for work crews/teams as well as those in the community who have survived disasters.

Shower & Laundry Services

Shower & Laundry Services are provided by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief trained/certified volunteers. Madison Baptist Association Disaster Relief can provide post-disaster work crew/team and/or community use of a mobile shower & laundry unit that features a pair of segregated shower compartments (one 2-shower and one 3-shower compartment) each with an accompanying wash basin and serviced with hot & cold water. A third, separate compartment houses a full-size hot & cold water washer & gas dryer.

T.S.A. House Fire Voucher

Limited Furniture, Clothing and Household Goods vouchers are issued by the Salvation army for those who have suffered a house fire. Valid I.D. is preferred for all those seeking a voucher and a referral from the Red Cross or a copy of the Fire Marshal's report is required to receive services.
