DRM Emergency Shelter

Downtown Rescue Mission Our Emergency Services are available, at no charge, to all in need. We provide warm meals served three times a day, safe overnight shelter, laundry services, hygiene/shower services, temporary storage for belongings and the opportunity to join our L.I.F.E. Recovery Program. General requirements: Government issued state ID Not a registered sex offender No narcotic medications (call for detailed list) No more than 25 pounds of personal items (clothes, shoes, books...) Women with children must meet the above-referenced requirements for emergency services, in addition to the following: Birth certificate(s)/Verification of Birth(s) for each child Social Security Card(s) for each child Four bins of personal items allowed per bed assigned ***No boys allowed ages 13 and older. T.S.A. Homeless Clothing Vouchers

Clothing vouchers for the homeless are issued Monday through Friday, 8:30am - 11:00am and 1:00pm - 2:30pm. These vouchers are issued from out main office at 2112 Oakwood Ave. Huntsville, Al 35810 Homeless clients will be required to have a valid state issued I.D. or a homeless Continuum I.D. These vouchers may be issued every 60 days.

T.S.A. Homeless Hygiene Items

Homeless hygiene items are issued out to those transient clients staying at or showering at The Salvation Army Red Shield Shelter on a nightly basis. Hygiene items may be issued to those who choose to not stay at the shelter but this is on a case by case basis. This will be up to the discretion of the caseworkers at the shelter.

T.S.A. Homeless Shelter Stay

The shelter is open to men and women ages 18 and older. They must have a valid state I.D. or other form of identification (hospital/jail records) to stay at the shelter. Check in is from 6:15--8:45 pm or when we reach capacity. Check out time is at 7:30 am. We breathalyze every night and also do random drug screens. Extended stay and special check in/out times may be arranged for those who are employed and can provide a copy of their work schedule to the Case Manager. The shelter is located at 305 Seminole Dr. Huntsville, AL 35805. Length of stay varies due to program: Emergency Shelter--30 days/90 total within a year. Extended stay (Life Recovery)--90 days/180 total. Must see Case Manager for availability. Mon.-Fri. 9:00AM--4:00PM
