Alabama Lifespan Respite is a statewide program dedicated to making respite resources readily available to caregivers in Alabama. Services include caregiver education, caregiver mental health assistance, personal choice respite option respite reimbursement programs, caregiver resources and referral, public awareness, advocacy, and technical assistance to non-profits and faith-based organizations wishing to begin or expand caregiver support ministries. The CARE Center
Faith-basedThe CARE Center provides crisis assistance and some utility assistance dependent upon the need and availability of funds. The CARE Center does not provide any assistance with rent, rental deposits, or utility deposits. Assistance is limited to neighbors who reside within our service area of New Hope, Owens Cross Roads, Brownsboro, and Gurley. To request an appointment call (256) 723-2273 M-Th 9 am to 1 pm or email shanai.moore@thecare-center.org. What to bring to the appointment: A current photo ID, proof of residence, proof of income, a list of all household members, and a copy of the bill.

WEDC Foundation
Non-profitScholars in our program receive flexible financial assistance, paid directly to them, to help navigate financial needs while in school. Interested collegiate women must apply for the scholar program and fulfill the program requirements every semester in order to receive the financial assistance. All requirements to become a scholar are online at wedcfoundation.org. The scholar application is open online annually from January through April for selection ahead of the upcoming Fall semester.

Non-profitThe H.E.A.R.T.S. (Help Emergency and Respite Treatment Service) program is designed to provide respite care for families of children with special needs up to age 19. A voucher system allows parents to secure a caregiver of their choosing with payment by voucher reimbursement. This program enables parents to run errands, have a date night, or participate in other activities while getting a short break from caregiving responsibilities. H.E.A.R.T.S. also offers parent trainings on various topics, including First Aid and CPR. Funded by the Alabama Department of Child Abuse and Neglect Prevention/Children's Trust Fund.
